Hiking Club Hike
January 18, 2025
9:30 a.m. • Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area Burlington
The Hiking Club's January hike will be on Saturday, January 18 at Sessions Woods Wildlife Management Area in Burlington (341 Milford St., Burlington). Meet in the parking lot, at 9:30 a.m., bring water and wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots and dress for the weather. If the weather is questionable, check your email Saturday morning.
There are several good hikes at Sessions Woods. Given the possibility of slippery conditions, we will be taking The Beaver Pond Trail. It is a loop trail on a 2.6-mile gravel road, with short side trips to take a look at the beaver pond, to visit a wildlife viewing blind, to see a brook with a small waterfall and to visit the "the summer house" (really more of a picnic shelter). Depending on how long the group spends at the various stops, the hike should take 1.5 and 2 hours. The trail is undulating, not steep, and the footing is good. This walk is suitable for kids who are able to walk the distance.

It takes us 40 or 45 minutes to get to Sessions Woods from Simsbury.
