Trails Day Hike-Wagner Woods and Great Pond

9:00 a.m. • Wagner Woods, 153 Great Pond Road, Simsbury

A pleasant fall hike through Simsbury Land Trust’s Wagner Woods with an optional additional loop through Great Pond State Forest.

We will begin at 9:30 AM at the Wagner Woods parking area at 153 Great Pond Road a few doors north of the intersection of Whitman Pond Road. If the few parking spaces at Wagner Woods are taken, park on the left side, as you drive in, of Whitman Pond Road and walk carefully up Great Pond Road to the site.

We will walk a loop of nearly three miles at Wagner Woods, returning to the parking area. Those wishing to continue for another two miles or so may cross the street with us to a trailhead at Great Pond State Forest and walk a loop there.

The whole walk will be fairly flat with good footing. We would call it easy but with the extra loop, some would say moderate due to length. Good footwear, drinking water, insect repellent (expect ticks) and perhaps a snack are recommended.
