New Moon Glowworm Night Hike
Friday, September 11, 2026
7:30 p.m. • Location: Tanager Hill Property, across from 137 East Weatogue St.
The last fireflies of summer have winked out but early fall is the best time to see the bioluminescent light show put on by their larva known as glowworms. Join us in the Tanager Hill parking lot just after sunset for a guided hike up to the preserve's meadows to view this amazing fall spectacle and to learn what you can do to make your yard firefly friendly.
Dress for the weather (long pants recommended) and bring a flashlight (preferably one with a red-filter to preserve your and the glowworms night vision) as well as bug spray to ward off mosquitoes.
